7 Reasons Why You’re Digital Marketing Isn’t Working

When you start developing your marketing strategy there’s a lot of things that you need to take into consideration before simply putting out “content.” The most import thing to remember is that our goal is to gain engagement from our target audience. Check out the 7 reasons that could be potentially effecting your marketing strategy below:

1) Your content isn’t tailored to your audience– Most people think content is all the same and as long as your posting something that’s all that matters but that’s the wrong approach. You should always make sure your content will speak to your target audience. Think in terms of what your customer is looking for and reverse engineer your content to match their interests.

2) The content you are providing is lacking– If you are posting content that is targeted to your audience you want to make sure that it’s providing value. The value you are providing can come in various forms but overall you want to make sure that your audience feels like they gained something in return.

3) Your target is spot on– Spend time analyzing and understanding your audience  and it will pay off in the long run. If your marketing and content is off just a little bit you could end up spending way too much time and energy in all the wrong places.

4) Distribution is key– With all the various platforms to share content on today it can be a bit overwhelming. You want to find the right mix for your audience but don’t neglect platforms that you may not fully understand. If your target audience is on these platforms then you need to be on them as well. Social media is changing at such a rapid pace it can often feel like you’re always behind the curve but it doesn’t mean you have to be a genius to be a great marketer on them. Most of the platforms are pretty intuitive to operate and manage but seeking expert advice can also be very helpful.

5)Your SEO is lacking– Search engine optimization changes almost as fast as social media and it can be very technical if you don’t know what you are doing. If SEO isn’t something that you’re great at it might not be worth your time. In situations like that it’s better to outsource it to an agency or someone who’s an expert than you trying to be just mediocre at it.

6) Be patient– Rome wasn’t built in a day so don’t expect to see results right away when you first start out. Experiment and track your results. Over time keep refining your strategy and it will keep getting better.

7) Teaming up– Finding people to partner with can be great or it can really hurt you. The key is making sure you’re in alignment with them most importantly your interests. This should also be a mutually beneficial relationship where both parties are gaining something in return.
